Funkytown Music Academy is Fort Worth’s newest (and probably the best) school for music. Students of any age and any skill level are welcome whether you’re an accomplished singer looking for university level coaching or you can’t hold a tune in a paper bag.

About the Founders

Dr. San-Ky Kim is an associate professor of voice and opera at Texas Christian University, teaching opera literature, lyric diction, and studio voice among other classes. After debuting with the Philadelphia Opera Company, the tenor performed across Europe, including performances in Bern, Helsinki, Bern, Amsterdam, Brussels,  Prague, and Lisbon. Dr. Kim has performed 40+ major operatic roles world-wide and served as a Fulbright Scholar visiting professor in Lithuania for at Vytautas Magnus University. He is currently completing his seminary studies with Brite Divinity School.

Joseph Brandley has been teaching private lessons in Fort Worth through 10kHstudios, working with musicians on guitar, drums, piano, voice, and bass. He has worked on worship teams with Frontline at McLean Bible Church in Virginia, the house band at his alma mater, Hope International University in Fullerton, California, as well as mentoring student worship teams for Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth, Mission Viejo Christian Church in Orange County, and Church on the Hill in San Jose, California. He trained as a classical pianist growing up in San Jose, and loves playing all styles of music on piano and guitar.
