At University, we are committed to serving our local community in as many ways as we can. As a church of diverse people with diverse abilities, we encourage everyone to find a way to use their talents to share the transformative love of Jesus Christ with others. Below are some of the ways we are in ministry to our neighborhood:
Meals on Wheels
University serves as a distribution site for Meals-on-Wheels of Tarrant County, which provides daily meals to elderly and disabled patients. Volunteers at the church receive and sort the meals for volunteer drivers to pick up and deliver.. If you are interested in setting up the food at the church, contact Sam at firstname.lastname@example.org; if you are interested in delivering meals for Meals-On-Wheels, sign up online at www.mealsonwheels.org/volunteer.
South Central Alliance of Churches
The South Central Alliance of Churches (SCAC) is a partnership of churches which provide financial assistance and transportation to those in need. University is an active member of the alliance and supports its mission by donating food, diapers, Thanksgiving Baskets, and infant formula throughout the year. To learn more about this ministry visit the SCAC website at www.fwscac.org/services.
Stop Hunger Now
Throughout the year, University comes together to package meals for Stop Hunger Now to be sent to communities in need around the world. The meals are prepared in the church building and volunteers of all ages and abilities can help throughout the process. For more information on Stop Hunger Now as a global organization, visit their website at www.stophungernow.org.
The University Prayer Quilting group provides handmade quilts for those in our congregation and larger community. Each quilt is prayed over by the whole congregation during worship and is hand delivered to someone in need of prayer and support. The Prayer Quilt group gathers on the second Tuesday of the month for sewing. If you are interested in sewing with the Prayer Quilt group or would like to request a quilt be made for someone, contact Bridgette at email@example.com.
Kairos Prison Ministry
The Kairos Prison Ministry is a Christian Ministry that seeks to serve the spiritual needs of incarcerated men and women. University supports this ministry by writing letters and sending teams out to one of the local prisons. Westcliff Elementary Evening of Angels
Every Christmas, University provides Christmas gifts for children in need from Westcliff Elementary School. These gifts are bought by the congregation and anonymously distributed at a Christmas party at the church. In recent years, Santa has even made an appearance at the party! Contact Sam at email@example.com during advent to adopt angel or otherwise volunteer with the program.
Habitat for Humanity
University partners with Habitat for Humanity and other local churches to provide housing to those in need. We gather volunteers for day long builds in Fort Worth at various points during the building process.
